Welcome to MyDIVAshop.com! I’m Shanel Evans, owner and founder of the My DIVA Shop (MDS). MDS is an online boutique founded in May of 2004 that features hot and trendy fashions for women of all sizes, with an emphasis on trendy plus-size clothing. MDS also serves as a marketing vehicle for independent designers. Working with independent designers enables us to market original designs across the country via our online storefront. Independent designers that work with MDS are highlighted under our Featured Designer section, which offers unique or handmade items to our consumers.
Why I started this business -
For the past 10 years, I had a successful career as a CPA, which includes working for one of the Big 4 firms. However, after years of demanding hours and lack of a family friendly work environment, I developed a strong desire to spend more time at home with my family. My desire to get out of the Rat Race reached its peak after the birth of my twin daughters. Already a mother of a 4-year-old daughter, it was time for me to find a career that offered flexibility and a creative outlet. Sounds like a fantasy doesn’t it? This fantasy led to the birth of MDS. Opening the boutique was a perfect match for my long time love of fashion, fascination with the Internet, and growing E-commerce trends. Most importantly, it offered the flexibility I needed to spend time with my husband and three D.I.V.A.s at home.
I created MDS on the notion that all women, regardless of body size, status, background and interests are special and have a D.I.V.A. within. What better way is there to express your personality than wearing fashions that make a statement? MDS aims to provide everyday women with affordable fashions that are original, have a stylish edge, along with the convenience of shopping from your home avoiding long lines and traffic jams.
